Budget categories and line items

A budget in EventOps is organised into categories and line items, giving you a structure that mirrors how you actually spend on an event.

Categories group related costs — think Catering, Venue, or AV. Inside each category you add line items for the individual costs that make it up. This keeps a large budget readable and makes it easy to see where the money is going.

Each line item tracks planned spend against actual spend, so you can compare what you expected to pay with what you're actually committing. Every line also carries a status:

  • Quoted — you have a price but haven't committed
  • Committed — the cost is locked in
  • Partial — partly paid
  • Paid — settled in full
  • Cancelled — no longer happening

Watching planned versus actual across your line items is how you spot trouble before it becomes a problem. To learn how that gap is tracked, see /help/budget-variance.
